How much fat is too much fat? If it’s subcutaneous or “big butt fat” — about 22 pounds; if it’s visceral or “big belly fat” —about 4 pounds; and if it’s liver fat, the driver of steatotic (fatty liver) disease — its just half a pound. This podcast is a primer on metabolic processes including growth and burning, insulin resistance and fat storage, and glucose and fructose responses. I never get tired listening to Dr. Rob Lustig explain the science behind all things metabolical!
Dr. Lustig does it again. A master class in metabolic health and endocrine/mitochondrial dysfunction. Listened on my walk and had to replay it over and over. The fat discussion was interesting but did not include the lard/tallow consideration when cooking in high heat. I know they have high smoke points and can add savory flavor, but do they convert to trans fat while cooking? Seems like we ultimately need to go back to the farm for our diets and circadian rhythms.
